Transitional curriculum (orientation program) for batch 2022–2023

Transitional curriculum (orientation program) for batch 2022–2023 of Mahatma Gandhi Ayurved College Hospital and Research Centre, Salod (H), Wardha, a constituent unit of Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (DMIHER) was conducted by the Department of Kriya Sharir from date Februay 20, 2023 to March 11, 2023 under the chairmanship of Dr. Pradnya Dandekar, HOD, the organizing secretary Dr. Swapnali Mate, and Organizing member Dr. Jagruti Chaple of Kriya Sharir department, as per the rules and guideline provided by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM).
The main objectives of the program were as follows:
- To introduce the students to the AYUSH system.
- To orient the students about the basic fundamentals of Ayurveda.
- To aware the students about the best practices available in the Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (DMIHER).
The inaugural program of the transitional curriculum program was organized on February 20, 2023, from 11:00 AM onwards. This program was graced by the auspicious presence of the Chief Guest Honorable Pro-Chancellor, DMIHER (DU), Dr. Vedprakash Mishra. Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor, DMIHER (DU), Dr. Gaurav Mishra, Honorable Registrar, DMIHER (DU), Dr. Shweta Kale Pisulkar. Coordinator MGACH and RC, Respected V. R Meghe, Respected Dean, MGACH and RC Dr. Vaishali Kuchewar, Dean Academics Dr. Anita Wanjari, Vice-Dean Academics Dr. Gaurav Sawarkar, HOD and Organizing Chairman Dr. Pradnya Dandekar, HOD of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant, MGACH and RC Dr. Preeti Borkar, HOD of Rachana Sharir Dr. Priti Desai, and Organizing Secretary Dr. Swapnali Mate [Figure 1].
The inaugural program was conducted by Dr. Sumant Pande, Associate Professor of the Department of Rognidana and Vikriti Vidgyan. The program was initiated by inviting all the dignitaries to the dais. It was followed by a Lightening traditional lamp and Dhanwantari Stavan. Dhanwantari Stavan was sung by Dr Sumant Pande. It was followed by welcoming all the dignitaries with Samplings.
After this, the Respected Dean, MGACH and RC, Dr. Vaishali Kuchewar gave the introductory speech and ODDYSEY of College. Madam emphasized the developmental milestones of the Institute. Also, madam welcomed the newly admitted students to MGACH and RC and focused on the importance of theoretical and practical approaches to becoming a good student.
This was followed by the Administration of “Charak Oath” by the Respected Registrar (DMIHER) Shweta Kale. Then our Honorable Chief Guest and Pro-Chancellor, DMIHER, Dr. Vedprakash Mishra gave the “Sermon Address.” Sir explained and elaborated on the importance of this ceremony and the values to be focused during their study life.“Ethics” and “Codes of Conduct” are mentioned in “Charak Oath.” “Sir also explained the 4D’S mentioned in “Charak Oath” (Determination, Devotion, Dedication, and Discipline) mentioned in “Charak Oath” to the first BAMS students.
Felicitation of our Chief Guest and Honorable Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Vedprakash Mishra was done by the Respected Dean, MGACH and RC. This was followed by a Vote of Thanks Proposed by HOD of kriya Sharir and Organizing Chairman, Dr. Pradnya Dandekar. As per guidelines provided by the NCISM, program was arranged for 17 days with 108 hr schedule. Details of the program are mentioned in [Table 1].
A total of 98 students from the 2022 to 2023 batch [Figure 2] participated in this program and all were assessed from the pretest and posttest taken on the first day and last day by Dr. Swapnali Mate, Organizing Secretary from Department of Kriya Sharir. Average learning gain of the program was 76.15.
